If you're naturally curious about tech and find yourself going down rabbit holes, keep reading.

We're Switch and Click, a YouTube channel reaching millions of viewers every month.

We make videos about getting obsessed with tech, such as keyboards, monitors, home theatres, gaming, Linux, setups, handheld gaming, and whatever rabbit hole comes next.

We're a small team that's growing fast, and we're looking for a writer who's excited about tech and sharing it with the world.

We hire writers across experience levels, so whether you're early in your writing career or you've been doing this for years, there's an opportunity here:

Junior Writer (under ~2 years' experience, interest in tech): $50,000–$65,000. You'll develop your craft and learn our voice with senior writers alongside you.
Writer (2+ years writing, strong interest in tech): $65,000–$75,000. You independently own scripts start to finish, juggle multiple projects at once, and bring technical depth in two or three areas.
Senior Writer (4+ years, deep technical expertise, mentorship): $75,000–$95,000. You lead complex, high-priority videos, own your own pillars of expertise, shape content direction, and mentor other writers.
Creator Writer Host (an existing audience & brand): $95,000–$150,000. You already have a following and a name in tech, and you bring your own audience and authority to our content.

The years above are a rough guide, not a hard limit. If you're working here and picking it up fast and demonstrating value, raises can come every 2-3 months rather than once or twice a year like a normal job.

For the Creator Writer Host tier, base salary is the starting point. Proven contributors who stay and demonstrably grow the channel can earn into revenue share over time, and for the right long-term partners, a path to profit share or ownership.

If you want to host videos on the Switch and Click channel, that path is open to you. Build a real connection and following with the audience, and you can grow into the Creator Writer Host tier while still working as a writer.

On Hybrid-Remote Work

This role is 100% in-office when you’re first starting. But once you’ve built trust, mastered our voice, and shown you can reliably hit your weekly script cadence, we are open to stair-stepping into a hybrid/semi-remote schedule.

Due to having to test and film physical tech, there will always be some in-office work required.

But we care about great videos and meeting deadlines, not forcing people to sit in traffic every day.

What This Role Actually Is

This is not a traditional writing job. You won't just be handed topics and asked to explain them.

You will:

- Come up with your own ideas - Go deep into topics - Test products and ideas - Figure things out as you go - Then turn that experience into a story people actually want to watch. Each video is something you own from start to finish.

How We Work

We're a small team. There's no corporate structure or micromanagement.

You'll do well here if you:

- Take initiative without waiting to be told what to do next - Are comfortable figuring things out without perfect instructions - Communicate early when something isn't working - Can manage your own time and deadlines
This role may not be a good fit if you: - Prefer clearly defined tasks every day - Need constant direction to move forward - Wait for problems to fix themselves instead of addressing them

Performance Expectations

- Produce one long-form script per week (15–20 minutes), ramped up over your first few weeks - Take feedback and apply it quickly - Show consistent improvement over time - You don't need to be perfect on day one, but you do need to keep getting better.
What You'll Do - Research, test, and explore tech topics - Turn messy ideas into clear, engaging YouTube scripts - Come up with ideas that fit our audience - Work with editors to bring your videos to life - Give feedback on edits, pacing, and storytelling - Occasionally help plan visuals or shot lists
What We're Looking For - You're genuinely interested in tech, this matters most - You naturally go down rabbit holes and enjoy figuring things out - You can explain complex ideas in a simple wayYou can write, formal or informal experience both count - You're comfortable receiving and applying feedback

If you're applying at the Writer level, we'll also want to see a track record of owning projects end to end and, ideally, some experience writing for YouTube.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

- Experience writing YouTube scripts - Experience creating content (any platform) - Familiarity with topics like Linux, setups, networking, and handhelds
Why Work With Us - Your work actually gets seen by millions - Real ownership over what you create - You'll improve fast through hands-on work and direct feedback - A clear path to grow - You'll work on things that are genuinely interesting.

About AI (Since You're Probably Wondering)

If you've watched writing jobs get swallowed by AI and you're wondering whether this is one of them, it's not.

This role exists because of the part AI can't do. The job is to get your hands on tech and go down the rabbit hole and capture real experiences.

That means encountering problems, hitting dead ends, and turning that lived experience into a story people actually want to watch.

We also won't make you write with AI. We use it in parts of the business, operations and back-office work, catching errors in our work, but not when it's time to actually put words on the page.

The thinking, the structure, and the writing is yours, start to finish.

Perks & Benefits

- Pay: $50,000 – $150,000 based on level. - 401k match - Vacation and holidays - Access to the latest and greatest tech gear - A small team where your ideas actually matter
